A bit of altitude would have given him more choices and time to get fully into an auto?

He did well tho... no one hurt... the Robo is toast tho :badluck

I wonder what made the motor go quiet? Anyone got a link to the accident report? :noidea :pop :wol2 :Wolvie

Robinson trained auto.

Should of added more altitude

A quick flare at the beginning to a 40 kt airspeed and a gentle flare at 12 feet to a zero zero landing would of been better.

See the nose over at touch down? Too much speed.

But they walked away

:pbunny

A simple thank you would have been enough for the morning coffee without all that "how did you get in here" nonsense.

My ground slides were always 5 or 10 feet or with wind zero (Used to have competitions for this stuff) "but your a mechanic" #1 mechanic - pilot too.

I had to slide it a bit because I had titanium blocks on the bottom of the skid and if I had let the collective drop we'd nose over :laughing
That was my CFI checkride and the examiner was more nervous than I :rofl
He had a good reason.....
:beefcake

We'd get old skid shoes and weld files we got from harbor Freight for wear - Worked great Sparks and gouged asphalt :laughing

I learned if you get a target speed of best climb at the last 200 feet you can do a zero zero landing in any helicopter.

Floyd filled the jet ranger with bodies and my transition check out was auto after auto, You couldn't feel the landings.
The more he tried to extend of position of our flight it always ended up at the target spot he'd announce at 'engine' failure.

What's fun is going to a flight school and taking the cheap intro flight and saying you know just enough and doing a full touch down as you talk them through the procedure ...

"You son of a bitch" look is priceless.
