Hi guys and gals. I just saw an IVO prop on Craigslist. 60 inch, 3 blades, nice. Could maybe fit my 503. Being adjustable is a nice feature. That makes it possible to load the engine correctly. https://orlando.craigslist.org/snw/5409700149.html But I have never trusted Craigslist, so I was wondering if anyone could somehow check this guy out. (as it seems to me there are so many from Florida here) I sent an email and the answer I got is phrased suspiciously, I think. Slightly Nigerian phrasing and too slick while not mentioning details. Well, after reading the email a few more times, I believe it's a scam. I have decided to include the email: <snip> Hi Erik, I bought a powered parachute for the engine and prop for a Gyro build. I am currently working on a Gyro scratch build that I thought was near finished. I am in great error, and have much yet to do. So I must not start any new projects. So, this prop for your gyrobee is a perfect match, and the gear box too. If you are building a Gyro with a 503 you must have a gear box as well. Also, if I understand you correctly, you are in a build of a gyrobee, you will want a pre rotator Assembly of which I also have if you are interested. I have a few other parts you may need. I hope I answered your questions. I will be happy to help you with your needs. Thanks for your interest Jack <snip> I wonder, why Craigslist hasn't made any way to verify if someone is legit. It seems wide open for criminals. I can't find parts locally, so I have to use the 'net to find stuff - but it's dangerous out there. Cheers Erik |

I am about an hour+ from Orlando but as much as I would love to help bearing the burden if something isn't what it looks is kind of a deal breaker. I was once asked to look at mini500 blades for Francois but declined it. Yes HobbyCad..... |

Scott and Gabor, thank you - really. I was just wondering, if he was legit. And he is - good. Now I can decide, if I want a new IVO prop for $660 or a used one. And I can write back and see, what else he has. Cheers Erik |

Erik I have had many many instances through Craigslist that were garbage and no protection once the money had change hands. That's the negative side of it. By looking at a prop you can't tell if the adjuster bolts or the receivers are messed up unless you take them apart. IVO props are good but for that price I would trust E-bay for the money back protection they carry. I have used their services 3 times for items that were DOA and were listed as immaculate or working condition. You are far enough........ and once they know it's going out of the country........ they can send you an empty box as far as they are concerned. It is my humble experience with both E-bay and Craigslist. Nothing beats E-bay's money back protection. Good luck. |

I don't buy anything from Craig's list unless I can go see it!! Ebay at least has a m.b.g. money back guarantee |

Hi guys. The seller is legit - his name is Jack Ross. We are in email conversation. He's very pleasant. But after looking at more pictures and checking the reputation of IVO props, I decided not to buy it. The Chrome leading edge protection had already loosed and was gaping. And the IVO also nicks easily. I have an old prop, maybe I'm lucky. I could buy Darren's wooden prop, I could buy a Warp Drive 60" 3 blade or give the 160 cm 3 blade scimitar "Kharkov" prop a go. The safest bet is the Warp drive, but noise is a large problem. Just to round off this thread and not leave it hanging... Cheers Erik |
